For a time one of my transcribers was living in hotels all week with a
laptop and at home at weekends, and managed quite well with floppy disks to
do the transfers of data.
If someone is managing an occasional half-an-hour's transcribing in the
lunch hour at work, and also transcribing at home, I can see that it would
make sense to work on different files at the different locations.
I have a related question. Is there a way of installing WinBMD onto a
computer that does not have an internet connection, by downloading a file
with all the necessary bits and pieces at one location, and then
transporting it by floppy or more up-to-date device to the isolated
computer? This could help people (maybe limited in number) who are able to
download but not install at work or some public-access computer, but do not
have internet access on the computer they wish to transcribe with.
