Subject: The BALL/ FREEMAN CONNECTION
Date: Wed, 9 Apr 1997 19:56:05 PST
Hello Cousins!!
I have been in North Carolina gathering information. Tim Cox and other
FREEMAN LIST(ers) are related thru REV. MOSES FREEMAN, Born September
14, 1774 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Moses has ALWAYS been listed
as married to FANNIE BALL about 1793. After FANNIE died, MOSES, at age
72 (way to go Freemans!) married again to ELIZABETH JARVIS BALL.
(Elizabeth has had her name written ELIZABETH BALL JARVIS as well).
Thanks to a sister who saves every scrap of information, I have spent
two weeks sorting through the BALL history. The reports came from many
people.
SOURCES:
Mrs. Helen Ingle, Hendersonville Genealogy Society (my oldest sister)
Margaret W. Haile, Big Ivy Historical Society.
Residence: Laguna Hills, CA
North Carolina Archives from October, 1986.
CAMPBELL/ BALL BIBLE ENTRIES
Wilkes County Marriages, 1778-1868
Union Grove Methodist Church, Iredell County (my line thru SAMPSON BALL)
Iredell Tax List, 1800

The FREEMAN/Ball connection begins here:
DANIEL BALL born about 1715 married Elizabeth OSBURN
children: (short version)
WILLIAM
ELIZABETH married DANIEL FREEMAN
MARY FANNIE married REV. MOSES FREEMAN
ELSIE married AARON FREEMAN, JR. ( Aaron Jr. married 2nd, ALABETH Ball)
Have not found ALABETH's parents, yet.
WILLIAM BALL (also my line)(1766-1844) married in 1788 Sarah
CAMPBELL(1763-1840
children: (short version)
ELIZABETH married Charles Jarvis
LEVI married Alice Jarvis
JOEL married ELIZABETH JARVIS
Mary Fannie BALL who married Rev. Moses FREEMAN, is the daughter of
DANIEL
BALL, born about 1715 and died in 1794.
DANIEL'S daughter Elizabeth married Daniel Freeman. She is confused as
the
one who married Moses as his 2nd wife. Moses' 2nd wife was ELIZABETH
JARVIS
BALL who was married to JOEL, son of WILLIAM BALL (1766).
JOEL BALL and SAMPSON BALL (my line) were BOTH sons of WILLIAMS. Their
sister
ELIZABETH BALL (B1793) DID marry CHARLES JARVIS in 1811. So she too has
caused some confusion.
Thats it gang. Anyone who wants more information, just let me know. The
final SOURCE that needs to be mentioned is, what is call "The Druse
Papers", JOSEPH DRUSE OF EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN who researched the
FAMILY OF JAMES BALL OF CARTERET COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. I was
priviledged to talk to him on the phone.
The male FREEMAN LIST(ers) will be interested in what he told me. He
said, " Well, I'll tell you
Mrs. Driskill, I didn't pay a lot of attention to the females in the BALL
FAMILY, I concentrated mainly on the men !!!" "I did put in the females that I knew, but they just were not that important".
He was such a dear old man I just said, "Sir, I understand".
