Does anyone in your discussion know of the ancestry of John Freeman who patente
d land on Brier Creek in St. George's Parish, GA, in 1770? Later, during the R
evolution in which he was a patriot and supplied the Continental Army with prov
isions, a major battle was fought on his property, sometimes referred to as the
Battle of Freeman's Bridge but more often as the Battle of Brier Creek? I and
many others are his descendants. C. S. Miller, Dept of History, Univ. of South
Carolina. E-mail . Thanks.

P.S. He was NOT the same person as John Freeman, the brother of Holman Freeman
, who came from Va and settled in the Wilkes County, Ga, area.
