Hi Freemans,
Here's a copy of my May 31 e-mail. I wonder if there is a connection
between your James and Asahel and my Chauncey FREEMAN.
Quite possible, I think.

The 1800 Census for Oneida Co NY lists these FREEMANS:
Augusta: Amos 30010-20010
Madrid: Asa 00110-30100
Western: Bradley 10100-10100
Augusta: Daniel 10410-00010
Madrid: Joseph 00010-00100
Western: Richard 20010-00100
and
Paris: Roswell FURMAN (error??) 30010-11010

After 1815/20, there were a number of FREEMANs in Monroe and
Genessee Counties, NY. If you're interested, I'll look them up...
