index.html is the server default, so index2.html would not be indexed in
the directory.

If you wish to check the count without incrementing it, you can check it at
http://counter.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/querycounter.cgi

Or, since you can have more than one copy of the same counter, create a
"counter" page containing copies of the counter(s) you wish to check. Add
incr=F to the code string to prevent the counter from incrementing when you
check (visit) that page.
