Tom,

I have received many replies to my enquiry and many receommendations have
been made. I have tried a few and the best one I have found to deal with the
cousin marriage situation is Genbox which can be found at:

I am currently using the 28 day free trial. I dont use the main family
history part of the programme - I import the data I want to put into a chart
from FTM via Gedcom and just use the tree drawing facility - the rest of the
programme looks rather complicated and not as easy to use as FTM. I am not
sure what the unticking of "include duplicate descendents..." in FTM is
supposed to do but I dont think that it is designed to do what we want. I
have not found anyone that claims that the new version 11 will deal with
this problem.

Hello Dave,

I too have FTM v8 & have marriages between cousins in my database.
I tried the descendant tree, got the duplicate descendants, then
unchecked the "Include duplicate descendants each time they appear"
box. Like in your situation, it made no difference; the duplicates
still appeared. So, it's not just you. I suspect it's a bug in
the FTM program.
