Press the CTL-ALT-DEL keys at the same time when it hangs like that.
This will bring up a Windows Security screen.
Click Task Manager.
You now have a list of what is running.
Hilight any task that is not running.
Click End task.
Click the Red Box X to exit.

Recently, every time I have tried to backup my work on FTM 2005, my computer
seems to take hours to do that, only it never produces the cd with
information on it.(I only have 1537 names ) and then when I try to use the
computer it only makes a single bell sound when I click on anything, and
nothing happens. Getting it to work again takes a long time, and I have to
do something like just turning it off with the "on" button on the tower,
because using Start, etc. doesn't have any effect. Sometimes the problem is
still there the next day. I need to back up because I haven't been able to
do that for several months. Does anyone have a helpful suggestion? Also, if
I can succeed in back up to a cd, I can then install FTM 2006, which is
still in the box.
