Hadn't thought of a read only file - good point.

But can't she just right click on the file, go to properties and uncheck the
read-only box?

Did you merge it with your own file or open it as a separate file in FTM?
Can you edit any other field in the file in question? It's possible that
it
has been marked read only, or has been privatized. In either case, you
wouldn't be able to edit anything.

I have FTM version 15 2006 . I imported a gedcom into my FTM from a
relative. The relative has filled the notes box with irrelevant
information
which is now in my FTM. I have tried to delete this from the notes box
but
cannot . Please can anyone tell me if it is possible to do this and if so
how
