The Family Archive Viewer serves a dual purpose. It is used for
viewing FTM/Genealogy.com Family Archive CDs, and is also an old
evaluation version of Family Tree Maker v11 with restrictions. The
FAV is a free download from

You will need to save your family file in v11 format.

An alternative that may be better is a free download of the Family
Tree Maker 2005 Starter Edition from

http://www.familytreemaker.com/download/starter.aspx

You will need to save your family file in 2005 format. I recommend
that you give both options a whirl and see which you prefer. Ideally
install them on a different computer because there have been negative
interactions with full versions of Family Tree Maker. Proceed with
caution.
