I believe that BJ and John; (two of our most valuable list members) are also
two of the most ardent advocates of FTM 2008.
I feel that there are two good reasons for their belief
(1) They both apparently have some access to company personnel and are
convinced of company integrity.
(2) They both are pretty savvy about computers and consequently are more
secure in their own ability to recover from a 2008 induced
catastrophic loss
of their family data.
That being said I would be very surprised to learn that either one
of them now has their only family file in FTM 2008.
>But by and large most people have upgraded and come to appreciate
>the new look and feel of each new versions. Now those much disliked
>initial releases are the standard by which FTM 2008 is being
>judged. Ironic isn't it.
Ironic!? Sensible would be my choice!
I have used FTM for over 14 years and even been featured in FTM advertisements.
I have become the local genealogy club FTM guru. We have about 300 members
and most computer users use FTM. At our last Computer group meeting I
was besieged for info on Ver 2008 & I replied that it was a
completely rewritten
program that promised many improvements over FTM 16. I also echoed the
consensus from this list that. "You can get it for study BUT KEEP YOUR
FAMILY FILE IN THE VERSION THAT YOU ARE NOW USING.
Four members (including me) have FTM 2008 and none of us dare use it.
