I am cleaning up and preparing to place several hundred old family images on CD during the last year I have visited with several of the 80+ people in the family and carried my All in One photo printer which will also make copies I write the nanes in the white area under or over the print I have been scanning them in and have been using the summary areas under properties in the images to record additional information who had the original the date taken most are About and a year and other useful information. It would be useful to have this available when images are displayed I realize many do not record data here but this may be due more to a lack of knowing about it. The comments text box is fairly large as I have pasted the information in a descendant narriative report for the person into the area , as a test I pasted an 8 page report with no problem so there is a lot of space for recording genealogical data with any photograph. This was a family group photo so the names
and location in the photo were recorded then a Narative Descendant report for 4 generations was added afterwards this provided Date of Birth, Marriage, Death and burial location for each person in the photograph including notes gave me transcribed Census records with the source and other information Birth and death records and a short bio written by a family member or the person themselves an obit and any other newspaper article written about them as well as the names of children and grandchildren.

It would be nice if under or near the image displayed in 2008 if there were a button labeled Embeded Information or even just More About that would go directly to this data window so it could be copied and pasted where needed or information from FTM reports could be added to enhance the value of the image when it is sent to a cousin. This would add an entirely new dimension for genealogists to scanned images or photos or photos taken with a digital camera. Census images could have the source information recorded with them.

It is surprizing that images saved from Ancestry do not already have Ancestry's source information recorded with the image. I will begin to add this to any Census or other document record when I save a local copy.
