My guide line for any software is to upgrade no more than every other
version. Genealogy, WP, or whatever. The difference from one version to
the very next usually is not that great.
If they don't give you a new manual with the new version, there probably
isn't that much new stuff in it.
Also, I try to pass on the old version to some beginner without charge.
Always making sure they understand this is an older version to get them
started.
Much the same with hardware, though now i find myself letting it go even
farther. I just don't need to have the power of the fastest / newest
Pentiums.
Printers though, I find myself lusting after newer ones. I loaned my Epson
1270 to my son a few months back, & am finding I really don't want it back.
Would rather get a newer one. But if Epson doesn't do something about the
cost of ink, I'll be going back to (my first love) Canon.

Hi Shirley,

Glad to have you as our host. I just recently upgraded to Version 9.0. I
began about 1 1/2 years ago with Version 7 and have been up grading every so
often.

Some are telling me that I could do everything that I am doing with FTM by
switching to PAF and it wouldn't cost anything. What is your opinion?
I have no complaints with FTM other than the continual cost of upgrading. I
have probably between $130.00 and $150.00 invested so far in the year and
1/2 that I have been collecting my 2150 family members onto the program.
Talk more later...................................Bob

PS: As far as what are we doing up this time of night, isn't this when all
good Genealogist work?
