Only if you make a back up of the files that you have created with V. 8 on removeable media and do not use it with 2005. Once you have used an FTM file that is on your computer with 2005, you cannot go back and use that same file with any earlier version.

You can, of course, open any gedcom file with any version, but I understand that you would lose any pictures or other saved images.
