Hi Lily,

I've been transcribing for a few weeks now and I'm not quite
sure what you mean. Could you explain? Are you using
WinBMD in windows? If you are then Marylebone is listed in
both the WinBMD Original Files and Files folders in the

"WinBMD_Districts" text file the entry is
"Marylebone|1837|3|1901|4|1|1a|0|0|0" and in the
"WinBMD_Supp_Districts" the entry is "Marylebone,1a" which
is the format that is shown in the transcription file
district field. If you are wondering why the
WinBMD_Districts file has a strange entry, this is to allow
for the changeover of district numbers from Roman numerals
(I, V, X etc.) to Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3 etc.) the
registration system started in 1837 3rd quarter and changed
over in 1901 4th quarter. Either way Marylebone is included
in the WinBMD picklist. A thought just occurred to me, did
you just type Marylebone or Marylebone,1 or Marylebone,1a?
Marylebone alone will not be accepted by WinBMD and a number
is expected after the comma and then a lowercase letter. I
have just read Kevin's e-mail and as he said, TWYS is the
rule, although asking on this forum is usually a good way to
get an answer. Anyway I hope that my little input has made
sense.

Bob
