With the the help of Ian Brooke, Debz, Linda and Dave, I have cured the
dreaded "Run-time error 429" on my computer and can now use WinBMD. I kept
a log of the steps I took and have copied this below in case it helps anyone
with the the same problem:

1. Uninstalled WinBMD via control panel and "programs and features"
(the Vista equivalent of "safely remove etc.."

2. Navigate to Windows Explorer and delete WinBMD folder.

3. Run search of Computer for all files with a .BMD suffix, only 5
found, but that was not unexpected as I hade deleted most of them when first
trying to clear the problem.

4. Run search again for any recurrence anywhere of WinBMD, only 3
occurrences and all 3 were in recent e-mails.

5. As it could do no harm followed Debz suggestion to Lawrence and
emptied the temp internet files and also temp files and restarted the
computer.

6. Linda suggested she overcame the problem by running her computer
with the User Account Control "on", I have been running it with mine off.
Turned it on and restarted computer again!

7. Downloaded WinBMD and saved it to my Quick deletes file.

8. Navigated to the saved file and right clicked on it and selected
"run as administrator.

9. Went to WinBMD folder via Windows Explorer

10. Set properties to run in XP mode, they already were.

A very big thank you to everyone who has given so generously of their time
in getting me over this obstacle. The only thing not quite right is the
colour scheme, but that does not matter.

A very happy John in Cumbria
