Dear John,

Thanks to you (and Ian Brooke) for your detailed steps. Alas, even though I
followed these steps twice (second time, I also removed details of BMDVerify
and Irfanview). In both cases, I still encountered Error message 429.
However, I did notice that, even though I selected "run as administrator"
(your point 8), when setting the application to run in XP (Service Pack 2)
mode (your point 10), I needed to set the "run as administrator" indicator
again at this stage. When I started the program (from 'C:\Program
Files\WinBMD'), a 'Files' folder was generated containing a single file,
i.e. 'webback.jpg', immediately before the Error message was displayed.

I'm glad that the process worked for you (and perhaps others) - does anyone
have any other suggestions to help resolve this problem for me? I think I'm
beginning to feel lonely again.

In the last five minutes I have solved the problem with the good offices of
Ian Brooke. I kept a log of the steps I took as I made them and have copied

it below. Fingers crossed it will work for you as well.

1. Uninstalled WinBMD via control panel and "programs and features" (the
Vista equivalent of "safely remove etc.."
2. Navigate to Windows Explorer and delete WinBMD folder.
3. Run search of Computer for all files with a .BMD suffix, only 5 found,
but that was not unexpected as I hade deleted most of them when first trying

to clear the problem.
4. Run search again for any recurrence anywhere of WinBMD, only 3
occurrences and all 3 were in recent e-mails.
5. As it could do no harm followed Debz suggestion to Lawrence and emptied
the temp internet files and also temp files and restarted the computer.
6. Linda suggested she overcame the problem by running her computer with the

User Account Control "on", I have been running it with mine off. Turned it
on and restarted computer again!
7. Downloaded WinBMD and saved it to my Quick deletes file.
8. Navigated to the saved file and right clicked on it and selected "run as
administrator.
9. Went to WinBMD folder via Windows Explorer
10. Set properties to run in XP mode, they already were.
And guess what we won the coconut! ! It works, thank you so much Ian. I am
a very happy bunny
