To avoid confusion, Bob, should it be made clear that this only applies
when the scans in question are of different pages?

Some of the rescans of grotty originals were made from two (and
possibly more) photographs of parts of the same page. These have file
name in the form NNNNy and NNNNz, where N represents a digit. In this
case, I think the entries from both x and y rescans should be
transcribed as a single block with +PAGE,NNNN and the beginning and
+PAGE,NNN(N+1) at the end.
