Hi Jock,
It sounds as though your FreeBMD Profile is set up to display your email
address and invite correspondance. This setting is really designed for
people uplaoding information in which they have a research interest (One
name study or possible/knw relatives) who would be interested in contact
from others with a similar interest in those names/individuals.
As a member of a syndicate that is transcribing completed pages it is very
unlikely that you have any specific knowledge about any of the entries you
have transcribed so I would suggest that you amend your profile to one of
the other two settings (Neither of which will make your email address
public).
You can update your FreeBMD profile by logging on to you file management
page at
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/bmd-files.pl
and then clicking the modify your submitter details button at the bottom of
the page.
It might be polite to reply to the individual concerned to the effect that
you have no interest or further information on any of the records you have
transcribed.
Hope that helps
Kevin S. Howell
FreeBMD Corrections Coordinator.
