Step one. In your 'Documents' folder create a folder called 'FreeBMD' or
similar into which your transcriptions can be saved.
Step two. In WinBMD in the 'File' menu go to 'Define Save Path' and click on
it. Alter the save route so that it goes to your new folder.
You get a little window which is headed 'Browse for folder'
Click in turn on 'Computer' then HDD (C:) [- the hard drive] then Users
then your username on the computer (such as Penny) then Documents then
highlight FreeBMD ( or whatever you called your folder) and click on OK
You should then have 'Define Save Path' showing something like
C:\Users\Penny\Documents\FreeBMD
Now use f3 key to save your transcription file, and you should find it in
your 'FreeBMD' folder in 'Documents'.
The reason for this problem is that Vista is somewhat obsessive about
security, and hides any file created by a program in the 'Program Files'
section. In earlier versions of Windows it was quite normal for a program in
the 'Program Files' section to create files within its own directory, and
that is what WinBMD does as its default.
Any problems with this, get back to me off-list.
Jeff
