I have noticed the slow upload time also. But I believe that it is
only an indication of the popularity of rootsweb. If you hold your
cursor over the little television on the bottom of your computer it will
tell you the transfer rate. Since Christmas, when everyone in the world
got a computer it seems, the web has been super busy from Friday to
Monday. By tomorrow if the pattern continues the phone lines should
have a great deal less traffic on them. The phone companies are the
ones that will have to figure out how to accommodate the world not us.
In the meantime, what I do is just wait until after eleven at night.
The web is really a lot slower then, around three in the morning pacific
time is another really slow time.
About the only other thing that you can do is increase the time-out
feature in your ftp program, if you have that option or invest in an
isdn line or satellite. I really believe though that things will work
themselves out in a while. Keep positive because it is too stressful to
be negative about it.
I am just really grateful that we have the opportunity to get this
information up for posterity hope that this has gone through without the
other messages attached. I am not sure of the setting in my browser.
