Subject: [FreeHelp] Rod's NEEP pages ... at last a start on them!

Last night I had a good session at starting my own genealogy pages! Long
overdue!!
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~neep
Spent most of the time setting up the structure of it all and linking it
in with WorldConnect.... it goes back and forth neatly now, especially
as the links from WorldConnect go to my home.htm which has the index of
pages, rather than the "cover" page (index.htm). What I tried to do was
use WorldConnect for all the boring "tree" stuff, and my own pages for
the real meat and history.... lots more of that to do yet though! <grin>
A neat little trick I used is to have a post-em in a person's record on
WorldConnect, which has a link direct to that person's individual page
on the freepages. And the person's own page can have links to the
ancestor and descendant charts on WorldConnect.
The one "person" page I have up so far is that of my g/grandfather
William NEEP (1850-1919).
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~neep/people/11willm1850.htm
a bit more work to do on it yet though, especially links to pages for
the other people mentioned on that page.
Note the use of a /people/ directory which will hold all my people page
files... and the filename: 11willm1850.htm which allows for a system of
file names:
11 = his database number
willm = his name
1850 = his birth year
The main front page is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~neep
but I have just used that as a "cover" for the book. The real front page
opens up from that.... by clicking on a book graphic.
Whew... there was about 6 hours work in all that lot ;-)
Now to do the pages for all the other people <grin>
Regards
Rod
