To explain a bit as to *why* things are the way Pat and Elsi have described
them:

There's more involved than just creating a new wombat_html directory
(for example)---there are links that have to be created so that if someone
enters the url http://freepages.wombat.rootsweb.com/~yourid they'll actually
see your pages.

So it's not an issue of simply creating a new directory type---that's easy, but
the end product isn't visible online without all the links installed.
