Hi all,

I just did a little checking in FrontPage2000 and FrontPage Express - we are definitely talking about two different critters, here. In FrontPage 2000, when you choose to insert a hyperlink, the dialogue box that
opens has URL at the left of the field and icons to the right of the field to represent 1) a web location, 2) a file on your computer, 3) an email address, and 4) a new page. Those are the choices. There is no
drop-list of text choices for URL type.

By default, FrontPage2000 creates "relative" links (The online Help declares that this is to help keep your web pages portable - a wonderful goal.) - BUT, sometimes it changes them to "absolute" links. I have
not discovered why - only that it does happen. I have not discovered a consistent pattern to this phenomenon. It has happened when I copied a navigation bar from one page to another - the links became absolute
on the copied bar, even though they were relative on the original bar. It has happened on occasion when I uploaded to a web site - really, I have no clue why. Before I ftp my web pages to the web site I
generally look at the links in HTML - if they point to my drive C: I edit them.

So, Linda, you are not alone - FrontPage2000 is a handy program, and it does some things very well. It does have quirks and you cannot just trust it to handle things properly for you.

I hope this is helpful.

Tina
