Not picking on you, but some people just don't know about 'backing out' to
get to another page. I work with some people who are supposedly "internet
savvy" and they do not know this and do not care to know this. If there
isn't a button or link to take them somewhere, they just forget it and move on.

The purpose of a web page is to get some one to visit and hopefully
stay. If you, as the web site publisher, make it easy for them, they will
stay. If you don't, well they won't.
