I did receive several replies to my original query, both on this list
and privately; I did post a thankyou to everybody on this list, but it
hasn't appeared to have arrived (at my end anyway).

Elsi's answer was the one that worked for me, and I'm going great guns
now.
At least now I don't worry about leaving my computer un-attended while
it does a lengthy file upload.
