Hi Pat (and all)

I have AOL 8 and I sent myself two messages with the following code in the
message area, one with the leading period and one without;
<.body bgcolor=red>
The message came through exactly as written with a white background.

AOL often gets a bloody nose, not always deservingly. AOL does give the
individual the option to add color or design to email background. If an AOL
user (not only AOL 8) caused the red background on the List message, it was
probably a new AOL member experimenting with his/her new found toy.

Personally, I'm not at all convinced that AOL was necessarily the originator.
In fact, I checked the 11 message originators for the list message in
question. None of them came from an AOL address. But feel free to blame them
if you like. They have big shoulders <Grin>
