Peter and I are conducting some experiments off-list to try to pin this
down. So far, it looks as if AOL 8 may not do the erroneous interpretation
that their older Email clients do! That's good news; once everyone has
migrated to version 8 or later it won't be necessary to fake out the tags
(but that's probably many years away, still)...
