Sally,
I have a background image on my Freepages website. It tiles downward on the
page but covers the screen across. I made it that size by reducing the
pixels per inch, I believe. It's been a long time since I did it. You can
time the download time it takes, however, remember it is also downloading a
music file at the same time. On my dial-up connection it takes less than a
minute to download. Another thing, it is also downloading from one to three
Pop-ups too! Here is the Url:
