Apparently, you "replied" before visiting the links I supplied.
Ancestry is NOT charging for access to trees or selling trees. Access will
remain free from both the RootsWeb and Ancestry side as it has always been.
One World Tree is a new tool which searches data from World
Connect/Ancestry World Tree and OTHER collections at Ancestry, analyzing
birth, marriage and death data to display the most probable matches for
your ancestors. It will also link to original documents such as census and
vital records, to allow the user to validate or discount research.
Think of OWT as hiring a research assistant. You would expect to pay them
for doing the research for you. But their research does not give them
ownership of the data they find, nor are they selling it back to you. They
are performing a service for hire. If you don't want to pay for the
service, you can still do the research yourself, for free.
