I use option 2 and it works great.

I use the miscellaneous category to have a "home" page with an introductory
page and a couple other items. Also, having your index.html in
miscellaneous allows you to give out a smaller URL (see mine below). I also
have lots of information in two other categories - family and genealogy -
each with their own index.html page so that they are indexed on RootsWeb.

In FrontPage on my computer, I created three webs - called by the names of
the three Rootsweb directories - family, genealogy, misc. The left-hand
menu on every one of my pages is a SSI .txt file which I copy onto all three
webs so that the pages are all interconnected on all three directories. I
then publish each web separately to the correct directory on RootsWeb and
then on the web it looks like one complete website.

Hope this helps. If you have further questions on how it works, I'd be glad
to answer them.

Subject: Help needed with redesign of website

Greetings everyone

I am completely redesigning my website, and need some advice. For the
record, I am using Frontpage 2000. Here is the address of my current site:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~stauch/

I want to have one site with a variety of sections, such as various
surnames, local historic interests, etc. I am not sure how I should lay this
out for the best results. I am considering 2 options...

1. Create 1 large file using Frontpage and contain all website sections.
2. Create several smaller "websites" using Frontpage and link to them from
the home page.

If I choose option 1, it could be difficult keeping track of everything as
the file becomes larger.

Option 2 seems like a good choice. I am just not sure how I would upload
several smaller sites to my webspace. I know there are several sections to
my webspace (sorry, can't think of the terminology for them), but I am not
sure how to utilize them.

Thanks so much for any help I receive. I work 3rd shift, and am still not
quite awake, so I hope I explained this properly.

Blake M. Stough.
