Hi there:

Also another thing here about Copyright and copyright protection. To have Copyright protection you don't really need to register your work with the US Copyright office, you just need to put your copyright in the work like the Copyright mark of the little in the circle. Like for web pages. to make the copyright mark, if you would like on a webpage that you are doing just put this in the code for your webpage. &copy and when you view your page in a browser it should show up as the little c in a circle.

But this not what I wanted to say about Copyrights here. A Copyright is good for 50 years after the person has died too. Now of course if the Copyright is registered with the US Copyright office and it is not renewed, then I guess it might would be in the public domain, this is unless someone renews the copyright in question or not.

But the song that this is about here, YES it would and IS copyrighted even it never has been registered with the US Copyright office, but of course I would say that I guess that it IS registered. but in any case with ANY kind of copyrighted work rather it is a registered copyright or not, NO you just cannot go and publish it if you do NOT either own the Copyright or have some kind of permission to do so.

So always remember this that NOT everything that you see on the internet is in the public domain. In fact most is probably Copyrighted by someone out there. At least at some time or other it was or is. Just like this email, since I am the one that is writing it, then I can legally claim all Copyrights to it. Just like any and all emails that you may write yourself out there to whoever you write it to.

So it is always better to get permission first before you go and print and/or publish, copy anything that might be Copyrighted. Now if you had got the words for the song for a site or someplace that had gave you permission to do this, then YES I would say that you would then have permission to reprint it. And this would apply to anything else that is Copyrighted out there too.

Hope this is found helpful.

Live by the golden rule. Do unto others as you have them do unto you. Another words treat others as you would want to be treated.

Also disabled does NOT mean unable.

That's it for now. Take care till later Till we talk again. :-) NO FORWARDS AND NO SPAM. Also PLEASE DO NOT add me to any mailing list.

Dave,

Do you have written permission to republish?

GEORGIA ON MY MIND was published in 1930. The copyright was renewed so is
protected until 2025.
