Any FTP program can create a subdirectory for you. In addition, the File
Manager (at http://freepages.rootsweb.com/fileman/ ) will create a
subdirectory for you when you click on the button at the bottom of the page.

Well, it will sort of have its own address:
My regular FreePages web address is
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elsi/ I have an index.html file
in that directory which serves as the 'home page' for the site.
My genealogy blog is at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elsi/blog/ This subdirectory has
its own index.html file serving as the home page for this area. I have no
links from the regular/main directory to the blog directory, so it's
independent from that point of view. But, it does have portions of the web
address in common with the main web site.
