Freepages are for displaying hyper text mark-up language (htm/html/xhtml
etc.) files which are compatible with all browsers. As such they are in a
format which the rootsweb server recognises and is able to read the location
of the Body opening and closing tags for each page, which it uses for the
placement of advertising banners. Any other form of files (excluding object
files such as JPG etc. which open within the webpage) do not come into that
category, for instance both PDF and GEDCOM files need dedicated viewers, and
as a consequence are download files incapable of carrying the ad banners.

Hope that clears up the issue.
