So how do you start defining your page - I mean can you explain what you do
here? Understand that I am a bit dim please! <grin>

Thanks for the feedback!

I think you are referring to the image map on my home page,
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bgwiehle/

There are 3 areas on the graphic of Europe that are links to different
destinations.
The (somewhat edited) coding is
<.map name="FPMap0">
<.area href="link1" shape="circle" coords="120, 56, 14" alt="desc1"
title="desc1">
<.area href="link2" shape="circle" coords="162, 87, 16" alt="desc2"
title="desc2">
<.area href="link3" shape="circle" coords="85, 64, 22" alt="desc3"
title="desc3">
<./map>
<.img src="images/euromap.gif" alt="image_description" align="middle"
usemap="#FPMap0" border="0" width="200" height="164">

First the map is defined, then the areas with links. Then it is connected
to the image, almost like an overlay.

With a circle definition, you have an X,Y centre point and a radius.
Other shapes are rectangles (define left,top,right,bottom points) and
polygons (define each corner point)

For a more complex image map, check out
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bgwiehle/wiehle/contacts.htm
where 9 counties with irregular outlines are mapped.

I can't take credit for the coding on either of these -- all I did was
trace the outlines, FrontPage did the rest.

Hope this answers your question!

Hello B.G.Wiehle,
I found that very helpful and I have saved it - so thank you. I took a
look at your page, and these are looking good. Can you please tell me how
you did your Map with the places your family came from please?

Cheers Jill
