My suggestion is to export a gedcom [ instructions within the FTM ] then
use GED2WWW [ http://www.lesandchris.com/ged2www/ ] to create your
website. GED2WWW makes a nice starter site. Everything from the
"index.html" , name pages and family group sheet style family pages. All
pages linked. Everything simple and easy to edit as you need to
change/add something. And the pages are compact so they don't take long
to load in case someone has a slow connection.
After that you will need something like WSFtp, Cuteftp, or some other
ftp program to upload your pages. Google for ftp programs and try
several. Pick the one you like best.
To maintain your site as you find new information I would suggest NVU [
http://www.nvu.com/index.php ]. You can use either WYSIWYG or raw HTML
to edit your pages. According to the NVU web page you can upload your
pages after editing or edit on the fly but I have never used these
features.
