I'd like to make a plug for a great Web design class that will teach you HTML on a very practical & do-able level. I learned a lot from it. I have nothing to gain financially from recommending it- I'm just a student who thought it was an excellent way to learn the basics. There are 2 levels of classes called Creating Web Pages, plus others (haven't taken them yet); they are relatively inexpensive (89$ for a 6 week on-line class, during which time there is good supervision and opportunity to get help if you need it. Work at your own speed & there are many levels of computer expertise in the class. Website is http://www.ed2go.com/partners.html
Hope it's ok to post this here, but I agree- you have to know HTML to solve problems that arise.
