you can use the scripts like you gave an example for, but note that that
particular script requires font size to be stated in pixels, but scripts are
complicated and some people turn off javascript, or your font sizes may not be
in pixels

You can also allow user to click on icon that will reload the page with a new
style sheet, with larger fonts and or different color schemes

or you can express font size in relative units, em or %, and allow the user to
change font size themselves.
