not necessarily, we all have our own directory and file names, but
the structure of your site as to folders and files within them should
be duplicated exactly on your computer. So that you make a change in
common/whatever.html on your computer, save to your computer, then
upload to your site. 1, 2, 3.
That being said, I think most people adhere to a separate css folder,
and image folder, in each directory, to keep your relative urls
easier, and your style sheets shorter.
