Charles,

I'll answer your question first as the others require more brain power
than I have at the moment. PDAs come in various sizes and shapes and
the one I have happens to have a full tilt, although antiquated,
Linux operating system.

I do ALL my genealogy on it, although big images can be a problem.
But to manage viewing those, I can use my choice of image viewers,
and simply scroll around the image. Image size in kbytes is more of
the issue, horrible on dialup, so I remotely access another computer
via the internet, which can cut them down for me so I can download
them faster.
