Pat, I believe that answers my question. I had forgotten about the title tag. I had used it way back and was doing something wrong, and my pages were not validating.
We just decided this week to allow people to send us a personal photograph of someone buried in a cemetery that was transcribed on our site. The lady who sent me these also sent me some for people buried in cemeteries we had transcribed. We eventually plan on adding Ozark Lithia so just decided to go ahead and include them.
Most of the cemeteries we have transcribed are way too large to show a thumbnail as they would load way too slowly.
My thought was using a little picture frame icon for personal photos and a tombstone icon for a tombstone photograph. If I use the title tag will that help make it searchable?
As for aesthetics, which looks better?
I have added the photo icon: http://rootsweb.ancestry.com/~armpgs/ozark-lithia-cemetery.html
If I should decide to use that (and am wanting to make a decision before I go further in this new addition to the website) what additional tagging should I show and should I have coded the first one differently? I want it to search properly and also want it to validate (which it currently does). (Notice I have no title tag.)

The page I am going to show you is not a good representation of the website but easier to understand what I am asking. I know this has been discussed before, but I cannot remember the answer.

Is it better to show an icon for a photograph or to show it the way I have listed on this page:
http://rootsweb.ancestry.com/~armpgs/ozark-lithia-cemetery.html

Which way is more likely to show up in a search?
==================
This page could certainly include the photograph as part of the page itself since it is the same photo for all three individuals listed. If you add a caption under the photo and then list the info you currently have (names and dates) it should work ok.

If you have a cemetery with lots of images it may make the load time too much. In that case you may want to do the same thing you have done with this one. In any case, use the alt tag with the images and the title tag with the links.

Search engines should find them either way. Whether they appear on the first page of listings is another story.
