Thanks Pat,
I see what I did wrong. I didn't SAVE before "previewing".
I will try again to learn HTML and download one of the free editors when I have time.
I really struggled with just making simple HTML, so I stuck with the WYSIWYG.
I was mainly concerned with what the "harmful script" running could be...
Should I also sign into the rootsweb site with my other rootsweb name/password before I sign into fileman? Do I need to be signed into BOTH?
Thanks again,
Kathie Buchanan

But, I got that "a harmful script is running" "could damage your computer if it contines" message. I've scanned and there is nothing except tracking cookies which I deleted.
I didn't see how to "sign out" when I was finished either. I guess I don't have to sign out after I Save?
Since my puter froze in "preview" I closed the page when I saw the message about "harmful script running"
Of course all the "new info" was lost on my Home Page; I noticed that the corrections "took" on my linked page/subfolder at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lowery/buchanan_lohr.html
I also "Refreshed" my Directory.
My Main Page below is what I want to add to/change.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lowery/
How do I change the main page content? Rename option?
Unfortunately aot of my data is not ready to upload or add, due to lack of substantiated resources. I mainly wanted to make a statement about that on my Main Homepage.===============
I wrote this some time ago on using the online editor http://www.genealogy-computer-tips.com/using-rootsweb-online-editor/
I would encourage you to download and install one of the free html editors and work on your pages on your computer and then upload them BUT
Signin to the file manager http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/fileman/
Choose the community (Genealogy) and click Enter File Manager
Tick the index.htm or index.html file and scroll down to html editing controls
Coose either the WYSIWYG editor or the HTML editor
Make the changes to your page
If you click preview without first saving your changes will not be saved until you go back and do so
If you click save and then preview your changes will then be live for the world to see.
If you do NOT have a backup of the pages on YOUR computer and accidently wipe out a page, there is no option to get the pages back.
