Subject: [FreeHelp] What's essential to a great genealogy website?

What's essential, what's nice for appearance's sake, what do you consider
cumbersome within your site? What features attract comment from visitors?
What have you added or have you seen that appeals to you, both as a casual
browser and as a genealogist?
The update on my own is going well enough, if slowly, but thought it might
be nice to add some features/elements to jazz things up.
So, in the hopes of getting a conversation started....
Essential: Easy and obvious navigation. Data relevant to the name/stated
purpose of the site.
Perks: Images presented in a creative way, unique header imagery (ie
collages)..and, I don't know! Gonna have to surf and see what catches my
eye.
Cumbersome: Lists without obvious names or descriptions, having to scroll
right or left to view the page
Crossing my fingers that some of you will contribute your thoughts. :)
Thanks,
Jen
