Apologies for a late response; away due family bereavement.

I've made a few changes to the way the table looks, and importantly the
formatting of the dates, which now allows that columns to sort correctly.
Though I haven't done so, it will be possible to stop the "(just a row of
dots)" and "..do.." from showing when the table is sorted by other than the
2 columns in which they appear.

Your problem with regarding having to use the browser Back Button to restore
the display to the original values has been dealt with by placing an
"original order" button is above the table.

The column headings have had their cells changed to "th" instead "td". Makes
it easier for formatting, and the javascript actually likes it that way.
When it comes to "numerals", my preference is to have them right aligned,
and in the following example I have done just that:-
