Subject: [FreeHelp] "Not authorized" as unlinked files
Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2011 15:27:21 -0500

In folders of pictures-only, it's recommended to put an "index.htm/l" page
in each of those folders so the folder contents can't be accessed (such as
when a web visitor finds the folder by accident or erases the end of the URL
back to a folder name). Some people put a message like, "You are not
authorized to view this folder. Please return to the main site page." (or
similar message)

Frontpage users know that the program lists all "unlinked files" as well as
broken links.

Here's my question. All of the "not authorized" pages aren't linked from
the site's main index.htm/l page, so those pages get listed in the "unlinked
files" in Frontpage. That's not a big deal, unless you have many
picture-only folders. Is there a method I could use to list on the main
site page one link that would go to one page that would list all of the
"unauthorized" pages? Would there be a way to name the link a certain
phrase, or make the link itself more invisible or less noticeable to
visitors, so visitors would be less likely to click on said link? How
could I write "the link" so it doesn't show up as "a link"?

Hope I've made sense in what I'm asking.

My goal is simply to get those pages linked so Frontpage won't keep
reporting them as being "unlinked pages".

Also, I have a follow META on those "unauthorized" pages. Should I change
those to nofollow nocache etc?

And, do the "unauthorized" pages need to have my left-side site navigation,
top banner include, and bottom include left as they are on all pages--- OR,
should I strip the page down to just having a link back to the main site
index page??
