I read around

and tried some suggestions like Trebuchet and
Baskerville but CSStool had never heard of them

anyhow I am just going
font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif, serif;

I like Tahoma on my machine and without it
san-serif is not bad
I suppose I don't need serif but I've left it as a
reminder

I just want to be fairly vanilla - I don't think I
need any fancy fonts
