This will be my last post tonight...I promise (smile). I just went back to the
"Decatur County, GA 1850 Federal Census" that included Sarah McGriff. It actually
included two Sarah McGriff's, one listed as age 60 and a child Sarah McGriff listed
as age 10, who probably was the grand daughter. Also, included was a P.A. McGriff
(who was probably Col. Patrick McGriff), who was listed as age 23, his wife and the
2 children. Under the headings of name, age, sex, race, occupation, value, etc.
Patrick was listed as a farmer whose "value" was "3,500". Although, this may sound
self explanatory, I'm unclear if this means value as in money or as in the amount
of land owned. Will someone please help enlighten me as I have a tendency to
become too "one-focused" at times. Sarah Sr. was from SC as was the
daughter-in-law, whereas Patrick was born in FL and the children were born in GA.
