In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Stafford of the State and County aforesaid
being of sound mind but in feeble health do hereby make this my last will and
testament.

Item 1st
I give and bequeath to John Hines _?_ (son of my sister _?_) eight hundred
dollars; and to Samuel C. Humphreys three hundred dollars and to the children
of Amos Humphreys two hundred dollars collectively or one hundred dollars
each; also to the children of Penelope Pierce two hundred dollars
collectively; and to the child of Rebecca Barnsfield(?) two hundred dollars
all to be paid out of the proceeds of my estate by my executors herein after
appointed.

Item 2
It is further my will and desire that my executors pay to Zachariah L. Fryer
Jr., three hundred and fifty dollars in money to defray my funeral expenses
and erect a monument of marble with such inscription as he may think suitable,
also for the purpose of encircling the same with iron railing.

Item 3
I give to my brother John R. Prescotts children my Negro woman Lil and her
four children June, Elbert, Hal, and Kate to be kept together by my sister in
law Martha Prescott for the support of said children until the youngest one of
them becomes of age. I also give to Martha Prescott and the aforesaid children
of my brother John R. Prescott, my carriage and horses for their common use
and benefit - siad property to be equally divided between said children upon
the death or marriage of their mother the said MArtha Prescott or at the time
the youngest of the children reach legal age if their mother still survives
and is not married.

Item 4
I further more will and desire that the above named Negroes willed to John R.
Prescotts children be legally appraised at the time of delivery; and the
remainder of my estate real and personal be sold by my executors at private or
public sale at their discretion; and after paying the debts and the specific
legacies herein bequeathed that the proceeds of said sale including the
appraised values of the five Negroes willed to John R. Prescotts children be
equally divided between said children collectively and my brother Benjamin
Prescott one half of said valuation falling to my said brother Benjamin
Prescott and the other half to said John R. Prescotts children.

Item 5
I hereby appoint Benjamin Prescott and John R. Prescott Jr. my executors to
this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me at
anytime. In testimony where of i hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this
13th August 1859.

We Green H. Perdue and George A. Gardner do solemnly swear that we saw Sarah
Stafford sign seal and heard her publish and declare this writing to be and
contain her last will and testament and at the time thereof she was of sound
disposing mind and memory and that she did it freely without compulsion to the
best of our knowledge and that we also saw Thomas N. Willis sign the same as
witness.

I John R. Prescott do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last
will of the herein named Sarah Stafford so far as we know or believe and that
I will well and truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the
legacies contained in the said will as far as her goods and chattels will
hereunto extend and the law charges me; and that I will make a true and
perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels so help me God.
