Hi Phyllis,
In "Gone to GA," by Stewart, there is the following for BARR:
James Barr (who left a will) was in the 1805 lottery and on 24 Sep 1811 he
sold a slave to Isaac Strickland, with Joseph Barr as a witness. Samuel H.
Barr was living in Rogers' dist. of Jackson Co. in 1827. In 1820, Robert O.
Barr was in Hall Co; Elizabeth and Samuel M. in Jefferson Co; and Nathan D.
in Burke Co. Ga. the Jackson Co. Barrs were perhaps of a family in the
Rowan-Surry Co, NC area from the 1760s, in Abbeville Dist, SC by 1790. One
Samuel Barr was in Pendleton Dist. SC in 1800.
In "Information on Some GA Pioneers," by Jos. Maddox, compiled from
registrants of the 1805 Ga Land Lottery:
James Barr, Jackson Co. died 1841, wife Mary.
That Will was dated 1841 in Jackson Co. Will Book A, p. 253.
Barbara S.
