Subject: [GABIBB] P.B.S. PINCHBACK, white father, slave mother.
Date: Fri, 8 Oct 1999 10:18:41 EDT

Seeking any and all information on Pinckney Benton Stewart PINCHBACK. Born in
1837 in Macon, Bibb Co. Georgia, to a white Mississippi planter and a freed
slave. One of 10 children, the family fled to Ohio after the death of the
father for fear of being once again enslaved by the planters white family.
P.B.S. PINCHBACK went on to become a lawyer, served in the Civil War and was
elected to Congress in 1872. He served as the Lieutenant Governor of
Louisiana and was later elected to the U.S. Senate.
Would like to know the name of his parents, siblings and to whom he married,
if he did marry, and the names of his children.
Any help would be appreciated.
