hi, list, and thanks, Jennifer, for the *excellent* cheerleading job.
Aqiylah is great, too, and I'm certain team effort is involved somewhere!
I'm posting for a few of requests; one is for a marriage index lookup
[maybe if someone goes to Wash Mem Lib?] for Edward Moore JONES & Ida
Amelia MELL, ca1890. I realize they may not exist, as they weren't required
yet, but one never knows... actually, I'd settle for *any* record on them,
as I have none other than city directory listings.
I'm also interested in fleshing out family stories of bankruptcy or
gambling debts by my anc Edward JONES. supposedly his dau's wedding date
was changed due to his 'losing the house'. I'd like to find out more...
best bets?
when did city directories begin? my HEARDs aren't in the soundex index for
Macon so I wonder if they lived outside the city limits? they were in Bibb
since 1810 or so, though I haven't found land grant info or much else to
support that. my anc is John T. HEARD [b.1892], son of Jacob Foreman HEARD
jr. I'd *love* to correspond with anyone who has stories, or anyone
researching one of the brothers. JF was a prominent banker, as I
understand, of the bank that's sort of triangular in shape downtown [oh,
I've only been to Macon once, briefly, to look through Rose Hill cem]. I
also have a xerox of a photo of my grandfather on a horse in front of his
home, about age 7. sure would love to know where it was/if it still is...
thanks for a great list!
